Vito Dell’Aquila

“Social values of sport”

Passionate about taekwondo since childhood and having trained at the gym of master Baglivo, Dell’Aquila entered the international scene at the Muju World Championships, earning a bronze medal in the 54 kg category.

At the age of eighteen, he joined the Gruppo Sportivo dei Carabinieri (Carabinieri Sports Group) among whose ranks he began a long competitive path wherein, that same year, he once again won a bronze medal in the 54 kg category at the European Championships in Kazan.

After the winning a gold medal at the European Championships in Bari, he won the 58 kg tournament at the Moscow Grand Prix, beating the number one world-ranking athlete at the time and securing a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Although he went in as an underdog, his first Olympic experience transformed into another triumph: a series of 4 wins that propelled him into the final of the category of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, where he won his first extraordinary Olympic gold medal.
